Samantha Lucas woke up with a start. She had just had a terrible nightmare which was as a result of the sleep paralysis she usually faced. For a minute, she couldnt move her body no matter how she tried. It just seemed like she was paralyzed for those minutes as her thoughts took on several meanings. She sighed, rising up from her bed. Her day would begin in earnest and she sure didnt want to arrive late for the appointment she had with her client.
Samantha was a drop dead gorgeous twenty three year old photographer from New York who loved the art of photography. She worked for a blog and most of the shots she took were of people she usually interviewed. Samantha dealt on life issues, war victims, people who had one story or the other to tell.
It was a part-time job which really didnt earn her enough to take care of her aged mother. Her father had died a long time ago but most of the time, she didnt want to think about him. The memory of him was too painful for her to think about.
"May this day be nice." Samantha muttered.
She had a meeting with Mr King, a top-shot lawyer and from what her friend had said, Mr King was a bloody rich lawyer at that. Asides his profession, he controlled a lot of businesses that spanned across the country and even beyond. From what Samantha had read about him online, he was a self made billionaire whose main business dealt on general merchandise.
"Great. Another snobby rich kid." Samantha sighed.
She had her fair share of rich men who all thought they could control everyone due to their power and influence. Samantha had crossed with one a certain time while she was still in school. Just because he came from a rich family, he thought he could impress her. Samantha chuckled when the memory of that incident came to her mind. The look on the boys face was priceless when Samantha washed him off.
He never expected her to flip him off and from the looks of things, Samantha realized that he had never been told off and this was just a surprise to him.
Now, she was to meet another snobby rich man. She didnt know what to expect but one thing she knew was that she would never give him any chance to suppress her. She had come too far to accept that.
"I think its best to get on with it now." Samantha sighed.
She was home alone, her mother had left really early that morning to see a friend of hers at the outskirt of the town. She wouldnt be back till the following day so Samantha had the house to herself.
She made her way towards the bathroom, taking her bath hurriedly before dressing up in cargo pants over a bucket hat. The weather was a bit humid that day and what she wanted to avoid was having to sweat all over her clothes. It wouldnt do her any good while talking to the client and she begins to feel uncomfortable.
When she was done with this, she made her way towards the kitchen for a cup of coffee. Coffee was like a drug that helped her stay on track. It was a booster she needed. Samantha knew that without getting a daily dose of the dark brown liquid, her day might be useless.
She took a small sip of the hot liquid, sighing in bliss as the taste hit her tongue. She was done soon and deciding not to waste anymore time, she made her way out of the house.
Her old car bus sat in the garage. It was just a big block of scrap and Samantha knew it would only take a miracle before it started. She had bought it as a second hand vehicle a few years ago when she badly needed a car due to the location of her job. Now that she had left the job, she needed to sell the car but no one was willing to buy something like that.
It was just occupying space and she knew that only people who might be willing to buy it would be those who needed it for transportation business.
Samantha got to the venue of the interview soon. She glanced at her watch that sat on her wrist and she discovered she was ten minutes early. She sat patiently, looking at the beautiful park. A lot of people were milling about, each with different agendas.
Just then, a commotion at her far right caught her attention. From the looks of things, it seemed like someone had just stolen a purse from an old lady. Being that she couldnt chase the young man who committed the crime, the old lady panicked, gathering the attention of those around her. Samantha watched as the young boy made away with the purse.
At that moment, she felt helpless. She wanted to help but she didnt know what to do. The boy was gaining ground and was almost at the end of the park when from nowhere, someone pushed him to the ground.
From where she sat, Samantha had a clear view of everything that transpired. The person who had pushed him to the ground was three times his size and from the looks of it, he took his gym membership seriously. He was a hunk, bigger than the average man.
People around the park starred as the man lifted the boy up with a vice grip. There was no way on earth the boy would ever escape. He was done for and from the look in his eyes, he knew that too. Soon, the parks patrol team got to the scene and Samantha watched as the man handed him to the patrol team. She sighed, knowing that the boy might not get out so soon.
Sometimes, she didnt understand why little kids resulted in crime but she knew it had to do with bad parenting.
The man who intercepted the boy walked towards her direction and she realized he was heading her way. Samantha panicked, checking the picture of the man she had in her bag. She matched it with the person coming towards her and she realized that it was the same person.
"Oh my gosh!" Samantha said.
The man wasnt only hulking, he was drop dead handsome with a full beard and caramel skin that shone under the sun. King Evans is a demigod in a human body and now, she was about to talk to him.
"Hi. Samantha Lucas I presume." he said in a deep baritone voice.
Samantha stared at his deep blue eyes, lost for a minute as she tried to get her brain to think and talk.
"Yes, thats me. Im to interview you." She said.
"Oh great but apparently I dont think that can happen today. You see, I sustained some injury when I tackled that kid. I need to go treat myself." He said.
That was when Samantha saw the light sheen of blood on his left elbow. It was badly bruised and needed immediate attention.
"Im sorry, you need to take care of it." Samantha said.
"Yes, thank you. Would tomorrow be okay?" King asked.
"Yes, sure. Please take care of yourself." Samantha smiled.
"I will, see you." King said before walking away.
Samantha sighed, watching him walk away. Apparently, she had just spoken with one of the hottest men she had ever seen and deep down, she couldnt wait to speak to him again.
