Really Dirty Business

The evening sky over Crestwood was painted in hues of orange and pink as Mia Thompson hurried down the bustling streets. She had just finished a long shift at the diner and was looking forward to a quiet evening at home. Little did she know, her life was about to take an unexpected turn.

As she approached her apartment building, a sudden commotion caught her attention. A group of people had gathered outside, their voices rising in excitement. Curiosity piqued, Mia stepped closer to see what was happening.

In the center of the crowd stood a tall man with striking features, dressed in an impeccably tailored suit. His dark hair was tousled just enough to give him an air of effortless charm, and his piercing blue eyes scanned the crowd with an intensity that made Mias heart race.

"Who is that?" she whispered to a passerby.

"Thats Ethan Carter, the heir to the Carter fortune. He鈥檚 known for his cold demeanor and sharp business acumen," the stranger replied, eyes wide with admiration.

Mia felt a flutter of nerves as she watched Ethan interact with the crowd. He was charismatic, but there was something about him that seemed distant, as if he were always a step removed from those around him.

Just then, a woman in a bright red dress pushed her way to the front of the crowd, her voice dripping with sweetness. "Ethan! Over here!" she called, waving her arms.

Mia felt a pang of jealousy as she watched the woman flirt with Ethan, who merely smiled politely before turning his attention back to the crowd. It was clear that he was used to this kind of attention.

As the crowd began to disperse, Mia felt an inexplicable urge to approach him. She took a deep breath and stepped forward, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Ethan!" she called out, surprising herself with her boldness.

He turned to look at her, his expression shifting from mild interest to curiosity. "Yes?"

Mias mind raced as she tried to think of something clever to say. "I just wanted to say that I admire your work. The Carter Group has done some incredible things."

Ethan raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Thank you. Its always nice to meet someone who appreciates hard work."

Before she could respond, a loud crash echoed through the street, causing both of them to turn. A delivery truck had backed into a lamppost, sending debris flying.

Mia instinctively stepped closer to Ethan, seeking protection. He glanced down at her, and for a moment, the world around them faded away.

"Are you alright?" he asked, concern flickering in his eyes.

"Yeah, I鈥檓 fine," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Would you like to grab a coffee?" Ethan asked, breaking the tension.
