Zoe Qin never expected that Beth Bais so-called life event would involve dragging her to a blind date.
"Beth, stop messing around. How can you take such matters lightly?" Zoe Qin looked at her helplessly, as Beth had the audacity to suggest that she take her place to test the waters with the potential suitor.
Beth looked at her with pleading eyes, "Please, just this once. Can you really stand by and watch me marry a man I dont like?"
"..." Zoe Qin was speechless; the situation hadnt even begun to take shape.
"Just this once, I promise!" Beth clung to her hand, refusing to let go.
"But if both of you take a liking to each other, wouldnt that expose our plan? If I go in your stead, its deceitful!"
Beth pursed her lips, visibly displeased, "Alright, then you help me out by giving some advice, by probing him a bit. If hes not up to par, well leave immediately."
Zoe Qin threw her hands up, as if she were an expert in such matters, "Fine."
Beth let out a sly grin, her mind already clicking away with schemes.
She planned to let Zoe Qin handle everything once they entered; she and the suitor had already exchanged some information through their parents. As long as Zoe Qin kept questioning him, anyone would be led to a mistaken reaction.
If Beth didnt take a liking to him, they could leave right away. But if she did...
Lost in her thoughts, Beth didnt realize they had arrived at the reserved private room.
The door was slightly ajar, and Zoe Qin could vaguely see a dark figure seated on the sofa, his robust and upright figure exuding a faint aura of mischief.
Zoe Qin exchanged a glance with Beth before pushing the door open.
The man seated on the sofa glanced over at the sound.
Golden light poured down, coating him in a radiant glow, making him appear even more dignified and mischievous.
Beth stared at Chase Mu, her eyes sparkling.
He was so handsome.
The man before her had chiseled features, his handsome face and sharp, distinct features as if carved by a sculptor, his beautiful eyes holding a teasing glint.
Zoe Qin tugged at Beth, who stood there dazed, signaling her to snap out of it, "Sorry, were late."
She said.
Chase Mus deep eyes scanned Zoe Qins figure, his lips curling into an attractive smile, "Miss Beth, please have a seat."
Beth nodded, her eyes never leaving Chase Mu since entering the room.
Zoe Qin watched as Beth became infatuated, helplessly pursing her lips, she gently tugged at Beths sleeve, signaling her to restrain herself.
"Mr. Mu?" Zoe Qin took out a newspaper from her bag and placed it in front of him.
Chase Mu was puzzled, following the direction of her finger, a photo of him with a popular model in an ambiguous pose was prominently displayed, with eye-catching headlines reminding him that this was a recent tabloid front page exposing his romantic gossip.
"So Miss Beth has been so interested in me before." Chase Mu was unfazed, his calm demeanor causing Zoe Qin to clench her teeth in frustration.
If it werent for Beth telling her the name of her blind date, Beth would have almost fallen for his tricks.
"Doesnt Mr. Mu want to explain?" Such a promiscuous man, a simple Google search would yield at least five pages of such news.
She absolutely couldnt let Beth marry him!
"Does Miss Beth mind my past?" Chase Mu leaned in slightly, a shimmering light flashing in his eyes.
"No, I dont mind." Beth replied dreamily.
She nudged Zoe Qin, signaling her to stop.
The subtle action caught Chase Mus attention, and he misunderstood, looking at Zoe Qin, thinking she was the one he was supposed to be on a blind date with today, his gaze sweeping over her.
Her straight hair flowed behind her, her small, pretty face fully visible, her features not as delicate as the woman beside her, yet exuding a purity that was unassuming yet comfortable to behold.
Zoe Qin noticed his appraising gaze, her almond eyes narrowing slightly as she glared at him.
"What would the ladies like to drink?" Chase Mu asked.
"Coffee," Zoe Qin said.
"Ill have the same as her," Beths gaze always seemed to drift towards Chase Mu.
Her hands rested on her lap, slightly nervous, her fingers constantly fidgeting as she shyly asked, "Mr. Mu, I wonder how you feel about..."
She paused, a cunning glint flashing in her eyes, "How is your first impression of Miss Beth?"
Zoe Qin was taken aback; she hadnt expected Beth to ask so bluntly, feeling somewhat helpless as she facepalmed, Beth was beyond help.
She had no idea who this Chase Mu really was.
He was just a pretty boy who flirted around everywhere, a heartless playboy.
"Judging by Miss Beths expression, it seems shes not entirely pleased?" Chase Mu raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised by Zoe Qins reaction to him.
He stroked his chin thoughtfully, wondering if this woman was playing a trick on him or if she genuinely wasnt affected by his incredibly handsome appearance.
The thought of the latter made Chase Mu, who had always been adored by women as if he were the moon, feel somewhat uncomfortable.
"Very satisfied, I am," Beth quickly responded.
She had already forgotten her original purpose.
Zoe Qin was completely at a loss.
She simply sat aside and fell silent.
After chatting with Chase Mu for a while, Beth suddenly felt a bit unwell and excused herself to the restroom.
For a moment, the private room was left with only Chase Mu and Zoe Qin.
"Miss Beth," Chase Mu leisurely observed her, unable to believe that his charm could fail to captivate her.
He suddenly stood up, straightening his black suit, and rose to his feet.
His tall and upright figure suddenly approached.
Zoe Qin nervously took a step back, cornered by him against the wall.
"Youre mistaken!" Zoe Qin silently swallowed.
He was too close, so close that with a single breath, she could smell the perfume on him.
"What?" Chase Mu was taken aback.
"Im not Beth, the one who just left is the one supposed to be on a blind date with you," Zoe Qin said, placing her hands on her chest.
No wonder.
Chase Mu stood up, lazily sitting back on the sofa, taking a sip of his coffee; if it had been the one who just left, he wouldnt have been interested.
"I think youre more suitable than her," his slender fingers playfully lifted her chin, his teasing tone further infuriating Zoe Qin.
Such a person was not worthy of Beth at all!
"Scoundrel!" Zoe Qin snorted coldly, dodging his hand.
Chase Mus eyes narrowed slightly, his body leaning towards her, "I can personally demonstrate how to write the word scoundrel."
