“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

“Lily, I know you’re in there! Stop hiding like a coward!”

“You slept with my sister!”

“I’ll make you pay for this!”

Mia Thompson jolted awake, her heart racing as she processed the loud banging on the door.

She had just been dreaming of a peaceful life, only to find herself in this chaotic situation.

“Damn it!” she muttered, rubbing her temples as she tried to shake off the remnants of sleep.

“Mia, if you don’t come out, I swear I’ll break down this door!”

The voice belonged to her husband, Ethan, and it was filled with anger.

Mia took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. She had no idea how things had escalated to this point. Just yesterday, she was minding her own business, and now, here she was, facing the wrath of her husband.

“Fine! I’m coming out!” she shouted back, reluctantly getting out of bed.

As she opened the door, she was met with Ethan’s furious expression. He was tall and imposing, his presence filling the small hallway.

“Do you have any idea how much you’ve messed up?” he demanded, stepping closer.

Mia crossed her arms defensively, trying to maintain her composure. “I didn’t do anything wrong, Ethan. You’re the one who—”

“Don’t even start!” he interrupted, his voice rising. “You think you can just walk away from this? You think I’ll let you ruin my life and just forget about it?”

Mia felt a surge of anger. “You think I wanted any of this? You think I wanted to be the villain in your story?”

Just then, the door swung open, and a woman stepped in. She was impeccably dressed, her hair perfectly styled, and she looked at Mia with a mix of pity and disdain.

“Stay out of this, Sarah!” Ethan snapped, but Sarah only smiled sweetly.

“Oh, but I’m afraid I can’t. This concerns me too, doesn’t it?” She turned her gaze back to Mia. “You really should know your place.”

Mia felt a rush of humiliation and anger. “I know my place just fine, thank you very much. I’m not the one who’s trying to play house with someone else’s husband.”

“Enough!” Ethan shouted, his patience wearing thin. “Mia, just admit you were wrong, and we can figure this out.”

“Admit I was wrong?” Mia couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “You’re the one who walked away first, Ethan. You’re the one who decided to throw everything away!”

Ethan’s expression hardened again, and Mia knew she had struck a nerve.

“Just remember, Mia, you’re not the only one who can play this game,” he said, his voice low and dangerous.

Mia felt a chill run down her spine. She had no idea what he meant, but she knew she had to get out of this situation.

“Fine, I’m done with this conversation,” she said, turning to leave.

“Mia, wait!” Ethan called after her, but she didn’t stop.

As she walked away, she felt a sense of relief wash over her. She was done with the drama, done with the chaos.

But deep down, she knew this wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
